Re: Oil viscosity and the owners' manual

Last post didn't take. I found my 960 did not like 15-40 during these cold Kentucky winters. Car would start up rough and run that way until engine was fully warmed up. Changed over to Castrol 10-30 and starts up smooth below freezing. Don't know the last time I that low a weight of oil. It's gotta ...

Another thing I did was leave the drivers side under dash panel off for a little while. And put a white cloth under the heater box seam to also monitor for any leak.

Re: Selling advice on a 1997 960

I'd say your $1,500 is a very good asking price in decent shape. That 6K car will never sell at that price. I'm wanting a 960 wagon. As far as I'm concerned they are the best of the last RWD Volvos. I'll keep my sedan until a wagon does come along. Due to my working on my own car I just did the cont...

Re: I'm stuck - '97 960 Heater Core rear ducts removal

I didn't think about mentioning this until I read your post. I did connect and test the heater core before putting the front of the heater box on hiding the core. Once comfortable I finished the reinstall. So far so good. I can only hope I have many years that this repair will last. I've been drivin...

Re: can't find rear shocks for 1996 960 wagon

Please do. I thought all wagons used the Nivomat shocks. It all has to do with the transverse spring in the rear end. I've got noise in mine going over certain bumps/rough road. Hoping it is just the shocks and not suspension bushings. Shocks are only 23 years old now. Bushings I can see seem to loo...

Re: can't find rear shocks for 1996 960 wagon

Jimmy, how did the 940 shocks work out on a 960? Interested in this post here because I'll be ordering shocks for my non Nivomat '96 960 sedan sometime soon.
Hoping it's the shocks and not any of IRS bushings making the noise.

Re: 1995 960 Engine replacement

And timing belt life and the width of the timing belt are different. Can't tell you if the wiring harness and sensors are different. Seems I've heard there are a few changes.

Re: I'm stuck - '97 960 Heater Core rear ducts removal

At 1st I did order the aluminum core with plastic end tanks. I opened the outside box and the plastic connectors were sticking out of the box from damage. I wasn't about to take a chance of using it as a replacement. The outside box had no damage at all. They picked the box with the core in in it an...

Re: I'm stuck - '97 960 Heater Core rear ducts removal

I feel for you doing this job. I did it to my 960 this past winter. Not a fun job. And I did use some of the aluminum duct tape to seal some of the areas. Some parts of it do not go back in as easily as it came out. I practiced first by going to a junkyard and tearing a junker apart. Don't want to t...
