Re: 1992 940 throttle position sensor

Pic 1&2 appear to be working as it should. It should click at idle if adjusted correctly. Pic 3&4 it doesn't look like the throttle plate is completely open. It must be fully open to the stop. It won't click like at idle. But you should get 0 ohms. If not you don't have WOT. Wide Open Throttle. WOT ...

Re: WANTED, DESPERATELY: Radio/Equalizer for an '89 780 Bertone

I hope you keep the factory system. I had a '91 Bertone and considering what sound systems were like back then, sound quality is right there at the top of the line systems. 30 years old does not equal current offerings. But to my old ears it was very adequate. You get some bass and an EQ that actual...

Re: Oil Transmission Filter.

The 960 certainly has a transmission filter.
If I had a mechanic tell me that I'd find a new mechanic.
That one would never touch my car again.

But I do my own work. Filter Is inside the pan secured by 3 bolts. As far as the filter goes on this car it's very easy to replace.

Looking for my next 960

FOUND- PURCHASED A 960 I've had 4 over the last 18+years. Current for 8 years at 219K. I'm at the beginning of a head gasket leak. Small right now need a few ounces every 100 or so miles. I always scan the usual import sites 1st.

Rock is certainly not a site I'd start at. But I have had to order a few times and I guess I lucked out so far that the parts worked out. This is not an endorsement.

I'm going to have to do something similar. The wires coming down to the 3 connectors have become hard and brittle.

It doesn't drip continually. Maybe just a few minutes until the pressure in the fuel rail drops.

Just cleaned the end pretty good and patched the end with JB Weld and it's holding for now.
I was intermittently smelling fuel after shutdown getting out of the car. Even checking the end it appeared dry. Was getting a drip about every 30 seconds.

This would be worse case. Perhaps the front trans seal.
But I think if it were that it would drip straight down between engine and trans.

Electrical issue on my '96 960

Here's a weird one. Of course the door dinger goes off like it should when the door is opened with the key in the ignition. A new problem has started up that I don't like because that means something going on with the electrical system. The one door chime now goes off when anything is opened. Any do...

Re: ABS fault causing intermittent sinkingbrakepedal-960

Another update. The brakes most of the time are as solid as can be. Have not replaced master cylinder. I have it on the shelf should I need it.

This is one tricky issue. My thought is that if it was the master cylinder it would be a constant ongoing problem.

I had a problem on my '91 740 where it would start just fine, but nearly die after that making it undrivable. I replaced/swapped all the electrical spare parts I have. It ended up being the FPR. Fuel pressure regulator.
Not saying this is your problem, just my own experience on my 740.

Looking for a decent wagon within 2-3 hours from the Louisville area. Have a 96 sedan, but I just like wagons more. Out of all the bricks I've had over the last 20 + years almost all have been wagons. Have had my sedan over 5 years and is my 4th 960. I feel I know these fine cars pretty well.

Re: Who likes the 960

Another question, how do you drive it if you own one. Never had one, but any inline six cylinder will be a better engine, than a I-4 or V-6..due to harmonics . If RPMs are reasonable, there is smooth torque and power available. Even Fiat Chrysler Automobiles apprears to be bringing out a new inline...

Re: Who likes the 960

I loved my 960 and S90! The white 6 cylinder engine is by far superior in my opinion to anything Volvo has made since. The final step in the evolution is the S80 T6 that I won't part with. Had Volvo kept the S90 version and added the T6 twin charged as a option I feel they would have had the perfec...

Who likes the 960

This forum here seems to have the most activity regarding the 960 than any of the normal normal Volvo sites. Over the 20 years I've been driving Volvo's I've been through 240's, 740's, 780, and a 940. And an XC and an 850. To many ongoing problems with those 2, I'm a RWD guy. Now I'm on my 4th 960. ...

Re: Wire color for the antenna. '96 960

It only makes sense that Volvo would use the same color wiring for most common circuits in many multiple models over the decades. Specific circuitry of course could be changed up. I feel confident now to start with the Red wire at the head unit connector. There's a thin gauge red wire present in the...

You've got a number of issues. On the vent selection there are vacuum pods that direct the flow of air where you select the knob.
