Re: 97 Volvo 960 Electrical issue
One thing that can cause the cooling fan to run after turning off the car is the engine coolant temp sensor located in the thermostat housing. It can also cause a dead battery as a bad sensor cause the fan to run on its own intermittently while the car is just sitting. Had this issue earlier this ye...

Re: Hub nut size on 960 front hub
Thanks for the suggestion. I've pulled these off before. It takes my 3/4" breaker bar and socket. Have to stand on it and bounce. Adding these tools adds weight with all the tools I'll be carrying. And at this yard the 960 is at the farthest corner. A good little haul. I'll already be taking mo...

Hub nut size on 960 front hub
97 960, going to grab some parts off a 960 with only 87K.
Will be dragging enough tools without adding all my big sockets to the mix.
I'm thinking 32mm or a 36mm. Rather take the single socket than the weight of extras.
Plan on getting quite a few low mileage parts.
Thanks Dave

No. 940 has a cowl with slits and wipers going through it.
960 is smooth all the way back.

Re: Installing 960 Fuel Rail from 1998 to 1996
I believe you are correct that the '98 V/S 90 fuel rail is different than the'97 and back 960.
One has a return where the other doesn't.

Re: Need information about the 740, 760
I would leave the front alone personally. You'd be changing the whole front end like hood, fenders, just everything.
All the things you listed are easier to access. You can stuff a V8 in the engine bay of either car.

Re: Need information about the 740, 760
The 940 is simply an updated 740. Pretty much the same car, suspension and all. Look for a '95. The last year of the legendary red block in the US. And 940's now seem to be in better shape. I love them all, but stay away from mid to late 80's. Mainly due to the engine wiring harnesses. And if not in...

Re: Need information about the 740, 760
I recently sold the '91 740 I had for 10 years. Thinking back now it was the best car I've owned. I keep records on all my cars and it was by far the cheapest ride I've spent for the miles and years I kept it around. Replacing both fuel pumps was the largest expense. Got it with 120k and sold at 220...

Re: 96 960: IT HAPPENED!
I always take it easy on 1st gear. Will give it the gas when it hits 2nd through 3rd.
Also use S mode setting.
When set to E can drive it easy enough you barely feel the transmission shift through the gears.
Don't want it to sound like I'm always racing my engine.

Re: 96 960: IT HAPPENED!
I've had good luck with the transmission in these 960's. I don't exactly baby mine. I do take it easy during warmup. It's a straight 6 and I do enjoy It's acceleration. Regularly hit 4k and even 5k. I don't bounce off the rev limiter though. I don't treat it as though it's fragile. I drive it but do...
