Well after reading the OM (thanks BEJ) I dont think that holding the master lock for 3 seconds did anything. So Im assuming that the problem was the door latch. Thanks for the suggestions.......

Well that was an ordeal. It did reset itself finally. Somone told me the switch in the door latch may be faulty or not making proper contact, so I removed the door panel and removed the screws that hold the door latch in and disconnected the two connections to it. the 98 does have a reciever. What I was woundering is if I swapped the reciever from the 850 too the S-70 and did the fob reprogram (as per the 850) with the key. would I be able to use the 850 key fob?

look around on this site there are people who can repair the ABS module. there is also a detailed writeup on how to do it yourself. I have all the info on taking the cluster out. I do have too replace the cogs as well so im going to order those and replace all the main cluster with leds as well as the trip comp. thanks

thanks Ozark. Thats what i was looking for, how how the lights went out seemed fishy too me thats why I posted my initial question. I've seen one bulb or maybe a few but first the right side of the tach and later the rest of the cluster goes out was weird.
