Re: 1999 s80 dying....
Hello, If there is a check engine light there must be a code stored. The ABS would not set a check engine light. It is very difficult to tell you what to do without knowing what the Check engine code is. Just so you know you can purchase a code reader from an auto parts store for $100 or less these ...

Re: 1999 s80 dying....
This car does not have an idle air control valve. It uses the throttle body which is electronic/motor to control idle, cruise control etc.. Could you explain a little more about the throttle body "blown out" .. Does the car have a check engine light?

Control Arm Bushings
Hello, Just wanted to post results on how I replaced control arm bushings on my 00 S80 T6. I know the manual has a very long repair on this with dropping the subframe. Others in the forum lifted engine on passenger side to get at the 2 - 17mm bolts, and on drivers side dropping trans pan and lifting...

Re: rebuild head or replace engine??
Hello, You can pull the intake manifold off and you will see all the bent intake valves. In my opinion just the cost in valves/headgasket is around $800 with aftermarket parts. Get yourself a good used engine (I found one for $1000 with both turbos). The engine comes out from the top. I did not need...

Re: 99 S80 T6 cylinder head replacement
Hello, I went through this in March. I ended up taking the engine all apart and found all 12 intake valves bent, and exhaust valves made contact but I think they were ok still. The head bolts might break when you try to take them out, so have an impact on them for a long long time before you try act...

Code Reader
Hello I would like to know if there is a code reader which will read/delete the module codes in a 2000 S80. Such as Airbag Service Code.. I have a regular OBDII but this will not work. Now I have a local volvo only repair shop (not dealer) that is able to do this. What do you think they use? Thanks,

Re: S80 T6 Maintenance Schedule
Besides the obvious plugs, wires, oil filter. I believe this car needs timing belt service every 100K minimum which includes, water pump, idler and tensioner. There are so many engines that have failed because of this its unbelieveable. Another thing to do is flush your transmission fluid. This is a...

Re: Power steering fluid question
I looked into this a few months ago. In the manual it says ATF, at the dealer they say the volvo stuff which is $30/L. I went back to the dealer after purchasing the Volvo stuff and asked him, to which he says thats what his computer tells him to use. I have been using ATF in my S90 for years withou...
