Re: Thoughts on 35% tint.
My van has something called "limo tint" on the windows in the cargo area and rear doors. I don't recall what percentage value it had, but seen from the outside it appears black and almost opaque. You can see very little inside the vehicle which is helpful for camping and hauling valuables....

Re: Headlining replacement guide, repair, replace fix, DIY.
Nice job on this project. Just to clarify- the material you purchased had the foam already attached to it? My car needs this badly, sagging and dirty from previous owners large dog.

Re: Anybody ever replaced the rear quarter panel?
The dent shown in your photo is easily fixable, by skilled hands. It will be made much worse by unskilled hands. Having done auto body work professionally earlier in life, I would suggest that if you're not fully committed to fixing the quarter properly to not do anything to it beyond pushing it out...

Re: '96 850 NA; URO Breather Hose failure
I purchased a PCV system from FCP last month and included was a genuine Volvo hose that connected the box to the engine block. After reading your post I'm relieved about the OEM part, I do not want to perform that task any time soon again.

Partial 850 Brake lights?
Yesterday I discovered another of my Volvo's fine features, the bulb failure light. It came on whenever the brake pedal was pushed. Simple enough, just replace a brake light bulb and the failure lamp went out. The particular bulb out was in the same module as the turn signal bulb in the back of my 9...

Re: Oil pump-Do I need to pack it?
If you're concerned about oil starvation upon start up, I would second what Lee said about spinning the engine over with the spark plug out. Also you could fill the oil filter with as much oil as possible.

Re: Water Pump vs Timing Cover- Cover losing
Wow, you guys must have much more dexterity than I, there was no way the water pump was coming out with the inner cover in place. The photo helped show the close relationship between the water pump and cover. I considered unbolting the motor mount and raising the engine, but no one mentioned this. I...

Water Pump vs Timing Cover- Cover losing
Replacing leaking water pump in 96 850T and could not physically remove the pump without taking off the plastic timing belt (inner) cover. Now after replacing the water pump and removing all timing belt tensioners and idler pulleys in addition to the crank pulley, I cannot get the (now partially bro...

Re: Nasty Engine
I have been using a product called "Super Clean" for cleaning engines, tires, motorcycles, you name it. It comes in a purple gallon jug and available at many of your big box stores. I usually cut it 100% with water and it will still cut most any greasy mess you could come up with. I must a...

Re: Kissing toads; no prince yet- Update!
So I finally found a decent 850 Turbo wagon. This was a car I test drove about six weeks ago, it just took the seller a while to come down on the price. It's a 1996 w/123K on it, mechanically sound and it came with a large envelope w/lots of receipts for past repairs. Many of them were for things fo...
