2000 XC70 Humming/Grinding sound
I own a 2000 Volvo XC 70 with 190K miles. 6 months ago I began to hear a slight humming sound coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. Since then the sound has become progressively worse. It is starting to sound real loud and bad. I thought it might be the wheel bearing (and still might ...

ETM plate position
I recently removed the ETM for replacement but am considering trying to clean it before I spend the 600 bucks on an XeModex refurb. The plate inside the ETM stays open ever so slightly. Is this normal or should it close 100%? Is it worth cleaning or should I just get a new one from XeModex? Any help...

2000 XC70 losing power and surging when accelerating
I have a 2000 Volvo Xc70 with 165000 miles on it. It has started surging a little bit at stop signs and I just noticed today when I was really opening her up on the interstate that she is surging at high speeds and seems to be losing power. The engine is running fine just having problems with power....

Changing ATF on 2000 XC 70
I checked my ATF fluid the other day (160,000 miles) and noticed that the fluid was a light black color. It doesn't smell like it is burned though and is still smooth to the touch. I am interested in changing or flushing the fluid but not sure of the process. Can any of you offer any advice. Should ...

What is the "reset" procedure for timing the CVVT hub
My mechanic and I replaced the timing belt on my 2000 Volvo Xc 70. Everything went fine except that we were not aware of that when removing the ltiming belt we screwed up the CVVt hub spring position (?) . We were not aware of a removal procedure. Anyway now the car is not running well and we need t...

Re: Timing VVT hub 2000 Volvo XC70
Thanks but I was looking for instructions on how to time the VVT hub itself. We got the timing belt all figured out. The Chilton's book gave us these same instructions. Very helpful. But it does not tell us how to time the VVT hub. There is a spring in there that is shifting a lot when the car is ru...

Re: CVVT timing 2000 XC70
I think I had some of my facts wrong. This is what he did - Pulled Cam cover and locked cam in place. Put new timing belt and water pump and put cam cover on. He never removed the CVVT hub from the cam. We need to know how to set CVVT hub to correct timing mark. Is there a reference point? Please he...
