Re: 2004 v70 2.5t engine rebuild
IMG_20251001_183841744[1].jpg A rebuild kit for the B5254T2 found at: https://partsology.com/products/engine-rebuild-kit-volvo-s60-v70-xc70-s80-xc90-03-09-2-5l-ek4264b I have no idea of the quality of the parts as I'm just starting this pursuit. VTI - I intend to zero time it. New bearings, rings a...

2004 v70 2.5t engine rebuild
Wife's super clean garage kept 04 v70 is needing an engine rebuild at 280k miles. She'd rather me refresh the drivetrain than get something newer. I'm not seeing cam bearings in the rebuild kits so my question is how are the heads and cam dealt with during an overhaul. I have past experience with tw...

Re: 04 v70, oil leak+no vac at dipstick
So I'll close this thread out with the oil leak resolved. The exhaust hub had a lot of play and both front oil seals were bottomed out. So that was the leak. What I accomplished this weekend: - front and rear camshaft oil seals - exhaust hub replaced - intake hub reinstalled with new o-ring. Timing ...

Re: 04 v70, oil leak+no vac at dipstick
Thanks for the photo that helped. From my angle from the top it's hard to get them aligned perfectly but I got them close. Photo_2025-03-01 10_05_23_354.JPG Now the camshafts slots are almost horizontal. I can work with that. I'll pull the crankshaft pulley so I can get the timing marks perfect then...

Re: 04 v70, oil leak+no vac at dipstick
Got all the parts to do seals and exhaust hub. So I got the front sprockets aligned pulled the rear cam position caps so I can install the tool between the camshafts and the slots are sitting eight o'clock to 2:00 instead of 9:00 to 3:00. Re: 04 v70, oil leak+no vac at dipstick
Thanks.
Agree on my mighty vac not being sensitive enough.
Just read the excellent right up by cn90 on cam seal replacement. At 280k Miles I'm ordering the parts for front & rear seals, hubs and TB.

04 v70, oil leak+no vac at dipstick
So the oil leak is getting worse. Appears to be coming from the front crankshaft seal and or Cam seals. I put a vacuum gauge on the oil dipstick hole and there was no vacuum or pressure, idle to 3k rpm. In addition recently got the code that says the EVAP vacuum pump behind the muffler needs to be r...

04 v70 eats pass side spring seat
The driver's side spring seat has over 100k miles and is still good. The passenger side is about to get its third changeout in the same timeframe. Last repair used the xc90 heavier version. That was 35k miles ago. Any suggestions on what else I can replace that would make the passenger side spring s...

Re: sunroof drains
I have successfully used a steel guitar string as a snake to clear the sunroof drains. I use the smaller ones on motorcycle carb port cleaning.
