Re: surging idle and stalling sometimes
You'll find that some people don't bother with the spark plug cover anyways. When maintaining an almost 20 year old car, don't be afraid to use a little "artistic license".

Re: Ingnition issues not switch
Sounds like the tumbler to me. Had the same problem on my 1998 V70 where it occasionally wouldn't crank at all. Changed out the electrical portion of the ignition switch, and that didn't cure it. It eventually got to the point where sometimes you could insert the key and spin it round and round with...

Re: 98 S70 all cylinders misfiring, rough idle
I had a bad rear intake cam seal on my 1998 V70, and it will cause a misfire. When the car warms up, look under the plastic cover on the idle air control/throttle cable and look for the weep hole on the bottom of the distributor cap. If you see oil leaking, that's part of the problem. When I pulled ...

Re: DIY: 1998 V70 ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) Sensor Replaceme
Excellent write up, many thanks. Been having hard start problems, and after checking my starter, battery, alternator and grounds it turns out that all it was was this little sensor. Being close to the holidays I didn't put down the extra money for the thermostat and gasket, but wish I had. Not remov...

Re: Blower Motor Runs Itself?
The whole system consists of the manual climate control, the resistor, the relay and the actual blower motor right?

I'm going to have to try this, I've been running a p0455 code for 2 years now.

Blower Motor Runs Itself?
Good Afternoon, My wife and I were in the market for a second vehicle, and when we came across another 1998 V70 with relatively low miles and in fair shape for cheap money, I couldn't pass it up. I few of the problems the original owner told me about have been taken care of, but one he mentioned was...

Re: oil leaking upper right rear of engine (98 v70 )
Sounds like you might be referring to the rear exhaust camshaft. The seal is in behind the camshaft sensor. Either pop off the camshaft sensor and check for any oil behind it or use a mirror to look at the weep hole on the bottom of the sensor. I believe a leak here will drip down onto the transmiss...

Re: ignition going bad?
Yeah, it's the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Search for the part, and you'll find it for about $50 I believe. It attaches to the end of the tumbler assembly in the steering wheel cover, and takes about 15 minutes to change out by yourself. +1 I got the electrical portion for just over ...

Re: DIY: 1998 Volvo V70 Springclock (Airbag/Horn Contact Uni
Just replaced the clockspring on my '98 V70 and wanted to thank you for this write up. It's spot on, and it give me the confidence to tackle this myself. No SRS light after reconnecting the battery in position II, saving me an expensive trip to the dealership.
