2010 transmission
I'm looking at a 2010 XC70 to purchase. It has 120K miles, runs out very well. My only hesitation is that there is a tranny whine, intermittent, changes with RPM and/or load. Cleared the power steering pump as cause of noise. Carfax history negative for tranny issues. I'm aware of the "no fluid...

Scan tool
need advise on purchase of an adequate scan tool for my 99 V70xc. I bought a cheap one and apparently it only gives codes on emissions issues. It wont identify more specific drivability diagonostic codes. I don't want to spend $200. I overheard a discussion that Volvo codes are specific and that mos...

V70XC rear shocks
I need some fundamental clarification. the V70XC rear shocks are Nivomat, and there is no aftermarket replacement. But, are there non-Nivomat replacement shocks that will fit and work adequately. Have always wondered this. Thanks for the help,

Re: turbo failure
Thank you gentlemen, exactly what is helpful. I do plan to drop the pan and check the pickup, as well as the return line, with all new gaskets. What is the CBV? I suspect something oil-flow related doomed the turbo, and there is impeller contact by the sound of it. I did have the cam seals blow out ...

turbo failure
my '99 XC (220K) has been running well for a couple years so have not been on the forum lately. Now my turbo has gone belly up, with all the associated screeching and whining (not me, the turbo) and I will get a rebuilt and install myself (then the screeching and whining will be me). Besides the tur...

Re: 1998 V70 AWD Remove and Replace Rear Left Engine Mount
I am "rattling the cage" on this older issue from last June. But I have found that, despite what some folks have said, this rear, Left, transmission mount is in fact adjustable. I have had trouble with a bad vibration (99XC) and when I started to tinker with the positioning of the nuts on ...

Re: Roof rack, mounted directly to roof rails?
If I understand your question correctly you want to mount a Yak/Tule rack to the OEM crossbars, without having to purchase clamps for the side rails and tubluar cross bars. Yakama (though I don't know about Tule) have mouting clips that are shaped like most (most) OEM crossbars, oval or wing-shaped,...
