Re: This is Why You Drive a Volvo
I drive my Harleys like everyone is trying to kill me. So far after 47 years of riding, no bad crashes. I drive my cars defensively too.

Re: Intermittent rough idle or no-start; no codes (96 850)
I cleaned my MAF sensor yesterday afternoon. It still ran terribly. Surging and dying. There is a test for MAF when this is happening that I read somewhere else on this site. Unplug the lead to the MAF. Start engine. If it runs smooth, it's probably the MAF. So I did the test and it ran smooth. I qu...

Re: This is Why You Drive a Volvo
I forget that safety is one of the reasons that I orginally bought my used 2000 XC. I've had to work on it a lot since buying it 5 years ago. The person before me must have never done any maintenance. So in cussing it for having something go out on it every other week, I forget just how safe my dog ...

Re: How hard is it to replace a radiator on an S70?
I used the posts on this site and Volvo XC forum, my VIDA DVD that I got on Ebay and the link to volvospeed.com listed above. I have the turbo, so it was a little more involved, but I just took my time and I got it done. And saved a lot of money. My Volvo dealer told me that they weren't sure why my...

Was going to put my 2000 XC in the shop to figure out the problem with it dying. After reading this wonderful write up on cleaning the MAF sensor, I decided to try that first. I like the suggestion about using vice grips to undo the torx bolts, it works! So sprayed the sensor and reassembled, ate di...

2000 XC-SE Disconnect AWD and make it FWD
I've read on-line about people saying that if the angle gear is so much of a problem, just disconnect the drive shaft to the rear wheels and make the 2000 XC-SE a FWD car. Sounds good to me. I can live without another $3000 repair bill. BUT, I haven't actually read of anyone doing this, and if so, d...

2000 XC-SE Angle Gear Question
I bought my 2000 XC SE in August 2006. In October 2006 the angle gear crashed and I replaced it at a Volvo dealer for $3100. I also put 4 new tires on it just to be safe. I crawl under it once a month and check for leaks but so far so good, after about 14 months. But I never drive this car out of to...

2000 XC-SE mysterious oil leak and bumping sound upon brakin
I've been hanging out at the XC Forum, but in searching your archieves, it seems like this forum has more nuts and bolts mechanical info. I took my 2000 XC to the dealer and asked them to reseal the turbo return line. The mechanic said the line was already sealed and dry. Hmmm. When I crawl under my...
