95 Turbo Wagon - Greenville, SC

It is time to let the 'Aluminum Falcon' go to a new home. Please make an offer. Photos are here: http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/3127133075.html I wanted to keep this for my oldest when she goes to high school, but I have a hospital bill coming due for the latest addition to the family, and I n...

Re: 95 850 - A/C Evac, Jumpering, Engaging Clutch?

Thanks for these instructions- they are very, very helpful.

Since there is a vacuum, I assume the car does not need to be running when I do this (?).

I'll try this tonight.

Thanks,
John

95 850 - A/C Evac, Jumpering, Engaging Clutch?

Even after reading the nice thread here, I am left with some questions: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20392 Here is the situation re a/c (I'm fairly novice at this): I had the old compressor freeze up on me on the highway and have now replaced it with a re-built un...

1995 850 Turbo - Difficult Turnover

I'm unsure how to classify this 'problem'. The 850 wagon battery (bought in October) was very low (not yet dead) and couldn't manage to turn it over yesterday, so I charged it and drove around for 20 min or so. Started right up after that- no problem. Well, this morning, same thing. Can't quite turn...

Re: How hard is a DIY engine swap? Special tools needed?

The first time I did the swap it took 2 weekends, now I could probably do it in a day-and-a-half (longer if replacing all the things that really should be replaced when the engine is out). Also, it's a pretty tight fit to get that sucker back in. Have a large supply of 10mm and 12mm sockets with sev...

Re: 95 850 Turbo Loping Shudder at Highway Speeds

Smooth and level surface, just cruising on the highway with light pressure applied to the gas pedal.

I've experienced a lot of different suspension and drive shaft issues before, I'm just baffled by the rhythmic 3 seconds on and 3 seconds off shudder.

Hmmmm....

95 850 Turbo Loping Shudder at Highway Speeds

Ok, Volvo pros, can you diagnose this sight unseen? I have a loping shudder that kicks in at around 60mph. it is three seconds on (shudder), three seconds off (smooth). I feel it very strongly in the steering wheel. The maintenance history of the vehicle is unknown- I just started driving it after a...

Re: 850 95 - How to remove the gas pedal?

The bolts to the bulkhead are inaccessible until I can get the main pivot point off. I believe there is a bolt at the pivot point, but it appears to be enclosed in some sort of a plastic knob on the left side of the pivot point, and I can't really see or access the right side of the pivot point due ...

850 95 - How to remove the gas pedal?

Hello, I have a broken heater hose coupling on the firewall side. I keep reading that you need to remove the gas pedal to replace the coupling, but I cannot figure out how it is done. Is it taken off at the main pivot point, where the pedal is attached to the bulkhead? I see a metal tab under the pi...

Help! 850 Rebuilding-Coolant Everywhere

Hi All, I'm in the final stretch of the bottom-up rebuild of a 95 850 turbo rebuild. There is a brass fitting inserted in the block, just behind the water pump and above the axle mounting bracket, facing the passenger side firewall. When pouring coolant into the reservoir, it gushes out that fitting...
