Hi, thanks for your response. Actually the old ones dont have the pin inserted in them - I assume for the same reason but they do seem to be a bit sturdier than the replacement ones.

Does anyone know if it is OK and safe to install tailgate strutts on a 1998 V70 without using the pins that are supplied. I cannot see any way I can inset these pins once the strutt is installed. ??

THe knock sensor is in the middle front of the engine.
You need to remove quite a lot of stuff to get access. - doable but not a cinch

I have a 1998 Volvo v70 and always have to slam the tailgate to close it completely.
I can never just click close it.
Does anyone know if that is caused by the floor latch being positioned too far back?
Would shifting it a few mm forward solve the problem?

Hi,
does anyone know the torque spec for an inner tie rod of a 1998 Volvo V70.
Cant find it anywhere - ant help is appreciated

I found this video from FCP for tie rods and this guy doesn't hold the rack at all when doing it. (makes it look way too easy)

Once again - many thanks for your response.
One other question. Does it normally need a lot of effort to loosen the inner tie rod - I have read some others methods of doing this job and they don't seem to bother holding the steering rack at all.

Problem is - I don't have access to a car lift to enable me to get under it and work like that.
