Re: 1998 v70r - boost

If you accelerate at half throttle and if your 98R is like my 98T5 you will feel the turbo at ~3050rpms. no mistaking it. Are you using some sort of OBD2 scan tool to look at real time information? I use Torque Pro for android. Being in the same boat as you without a reliable vacuum/boost guage, I w...

Re: 1995 850T wagon – Engine suddenly died on freeway

Every timing belt breakage story I've read on these engines has included valve damage. as to the metal on metal noise I snapped a timing belt on a honda DOHC engine and it went dead silent. like nothing... in gear. trashed 3 valves. So I don't think you really need to hear it for the damage to be do...

Re: 98 V70 AWD, no boost reading

I don't think your 98 has a MAP. The OBD2 app I use, torque can extrapolate a guess on my 98T5 but it's wildly inaccurate. Whereas on a car using a speed density algorithm to determine air fuel mixture it works much better. It's my understanding that starting in 99 there's a MAP. I completely get th...

Can't speak to quality but at that price I might replace all the solenoids while I was there.

You guys saved my 98 T5 yet again.

I was accelerating under WOT on an onramp to a freeway far from home and around 4000rpms and the car just took an absolute dump on me. Large pop, blinking check engine light, orange transmission up arrow, downshifts while i was coming to a stop were janky and horrendous as if the engine and the tran...

I have to ask, What is that apparatus running along the strut brace that resembles two copper ballasts with conduit on either end.

Re: 1998 V70xc. Oil/trans cooler line retainer

I found using a 5$ snap ring pliers from harbor freight made it a trivial exercise. Allowed me to remove the years old clamps without deforming them. Could have reused them if I hadn't purchased new.

I used needle nose pliers the first time and couldn't get it off without ruining the clamp.

Re: 1997 850 T5 fuel economy

Two weekends ago I ran my 98s70T5 208 miles south on interstate 5 from Portland. 30.3mpg with an average speed of 79. My work commute is .8 miles each way and after a week of that my mpg is 17 or so because of stop and go traffic. All of this according to the onboard display of course.
