Re: compact spare tire

... so where your life is concerned, surely paying for a good spare of any type makes sense?

Neil.

I totally agree. The problem is the donut spare is dangerous, it is not a "good spare." Get a 15 inch wheel and tire, it will be cheaper *and* safer to refresh that than to refresh a donut ...

Re: 1975 164E

For anyone interested and in the Dayton area or willing to travel, this guy still has it. He was asking $1000 two months ago, so you could probably get this for a steal. If I had $600 and a place to put it, I'd have it sitting at my place right now

Out of curiosity - how do you check this? I have a 94 850 Wagon I'm trying to sell, and the odometer has been stuck on 127 since we bought it. Would be kinda cool to find out how many miles this thing actually has (our guess is 200k, but who knows)

Re: 1975 164E

If you are looking for a daily driver walk away. There are many 850s and V/S70s in our area for the same price. I would consider this 164 a project car.

That's what I ended up doing. Couldn't find an 850, V70, or 960 in my price range, ended up going with a Town and Country. Maybe in a couple ...

1994 Volvo 850 Wagon for Sale - Dayton, OH

Selling my 850 Wagon. All information good and bad listed on this ad. Just North of Dayton Ohio. Based on what's wrong and the way I hear people talking about the value of 850s, I don't think $800 is ridiculous, but if you ...

Re: 98 850 Wagon - probably scrapping? EDIT: it runs?

I have to,ship something back to Kahl in Ohio so if he’s close I could ship my compression gauge free on the ride. He’s going to sail it back to me this summer

I got it worked out. Buddy of mine has one, said he'll find it tomorrow and show me how to work it. I'll do some research and make sure ...

Re: 98 850 Wagon - probably scrapping? EDIT: it runs?

Borrow a compression tester NOW as suggested, check out a few of RSPI videos on Youtube, and see what you have BEFORE you do anything more. Otherwise, you will be tossing good money and lots of time, after bad. What I learned early on working on these cars is to eliminate worst case possibilities ...

Re: 98 850 Wagon - probably scrapping?

So as a rehash

Re: 98 850 Wagon - probably scrapping?

I should rephrase. I ain't swapping. Lol. I just plain don't have the time, money, or equipment to do an engine swap. But I'll test the compressions and whatnot. Rework the PCV again, and see if I can deal with the ticking noise. If I can, I'll have to decide if I'm keeping it or dumping it. If I ...
