C70 Transmission Problems

I recently purchased a 2003 C70, automatic trans with 80,000 miles on it. There was a problem in the transmission when I test drove it and the dealer identified that it's the Valve Body and they would replace it before I pick it up. When I picked up the car, it was running and shifting fine. I've now noticed a problem after I've been driving for about 30 minutes, when I go to stop, there is a bang and the car lurches forward. It seems as though it's when it downshifts to first gear. I took it to a local transmission shop (before I go back to the dealer) and he said there are no codes and since the valve body was replaced, I would probably need a rebuild. Of course they would say that as they quoted me $4,500. Has anyone experienced this? Is the valve body they put in the car defective? Does it really need a rebuild? Or is something else going on here? Thanks - any input is appreciated.

I have an '02 and just had the transmission replaced. With less than 3000 miles on it, I have the same thing. Does anyone think it could be the software update for the transmission? Or any other ideas of course.

I am being told by several people that the problem is a "pressure regulator" going from 2nd gear to 1st - either mechanical or electronic but until it gets serviced, we won't know for sure. I don't know much about transmissions but if you just had yours rebuilt, I can't see where this could be the problem.

Yeah the transmission has software updates that may take care of that issue. Then again, it might not fix it either. If I were you, I would request a NEW transmission (factory rebuild) from the dealer you purchased it from. Hopefully they are not going to leave you to deal with this issue. Good luck.
