Did mine today. Works like a charm. I'd say getting the case open is the hardest part. Don't be afraid of putting some heat on those pins. They can take it.
Replacing it wasn't as hard as I thought. I have big hands and only had to move the airbox out of the way. I didn't have to disconnect the air hose where it meets the turbo. I have a e-5, but used the 5/32 as it's shorter and easier to maneuver.
Any novice solderer can do this. If you doubt yourself, get a junkyard unit and work on that.

I agree with you fattymatty.
But, let's see how reliable is our repair.
Let's not forget, all of our ABS modules have worked for a certain period of time, after what, the solder joint has cracked.
Time will tell.

Hello everyone,
I have a 1993 850 Turbo and I started the ABS repair today,
since both my ABS and Tracs lights randomly turned on and stayed on.
Sometimes immediately sometimes after 1 hour of driving.
I detached the airfilter box and had a E5 handy when I couldn t finde the ABS module.
Is there a way that the ABS module looks different in the Turbo version ?
Can anyone with a 850 Turbo please tell me where to find it ?
thanks,
Christian

The 1993 module is a totally different animal than the '96 and on module and the module itself normally doesn't fail. That said, the rings on the C/V joints in the front and the hubs on the back can get filled with junk and cause errors.
Pull the codes from port A-3 and post them back.

Hi Thyrome, I have an 850 turbo, no Tracks though.
I believe all the ABS modules are located at the same place on our cars, even on newer models like the S40 ...
So, look under the aluminum block, it's nkind of hidden, take a look at this picture: http://www.bba-reman.com/images/volvo_abs_removal_1.jpg
Good luck.

I have a 2000 Volvo S70 GLT SE. I removed my ABS unit today, opened it, and re-soldered the connections. Two things I found were
1) I didn't see any grip washers outside the box
2) I didn't see any silicone covering the pcb inside the box.
Are those missing or is it like that in this car model?
After soldering I fixed the unit back without silicone seal for testing purpose. I still see the check engine light on. However, ABS and Tracs lights are gone; but those lights are always intermittent, only check engine light was on always. I tried driving around in freeway for 20 minutes, but no use, still check engine light is on.
Is there a way I can reset the check engine lights myself? I tried searching the forums but could not find anything.

For the check engine light get the codes read from the OBD-II port and post the code numbers back, they are completely different systems. It does sound like your ABS/Tracs is fixed though!
