Yes; they will be able to look it up by your VIN number and tell you whether or not your car is eligible to begin with.

Yeah but they need to do a bunch of tests before they're giving out these $800 units.
If it's that bad it should have a red ETS light on the dash

Before the dealer, go to autozone and have them read the codes that are triggering the check engine light.

Post the codes here to see what's going on.

I finally got the code for my 2001 S60! A mechanic told me it was giving the code P0121? I believe something about throttle body? I called Volvo and gave them my vin# and the warrenty is good until 7-7-2011. They said if that if it wasn't the emt then I would have to pay for the diagnostic. $112.00. If it is the emt then Volvo would cover everything. Any imput is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

If you have an ETS code
It called an ETM but the code thrown I believe is "ETS"
(NOT EMT, that's someone who comes in a big red or white truck and can save your life)!
If the light is on they will go thru steps. First they will clean it on their dime.
If that doesn't work you will give a new one so get it to Volvo.... NOW!

Thanks, sorry about "emt" If you haven't already guessed, I am not very knowledgable when it comes to cars! So is the P0121 something that is covered under the warranty we talked about? What does "etm" and "ets" stand for?
Thanks,
Doug

Electonic throttle system
Electronic throttle module
or some call it ETB (which is actually it's correct name)
Electronic throttle BODY

sounds like it is the ETM. Take it to Volvo and let them confirm the problem and fix it free of charge.

If it's not the ETM, the $112 diagnosis fee is very reasonable.

I had my car towed to the Volvo dealer to see about the etm and they said my wiring harness had been spliced and they would not work on it until I replaced it. About $3000.00!!!! does anyone know where I can get a used one cheap? :(
