Just ordered rotors and ceramic pads for my 1999 s70. The current brakes work well, however, there is a 1/4 inch groove cut into the rotor by the inner pad. I have never seen anything like that before.
What amazes me is the lack of vibration or rotor warping (the steering wheel does not move when lightly touching the brakes).
Hopefully, my rotors will be manufactured in China Brake Factory #3 (the good one), not in factory #2 (where the bad Brembo's are made).
New front rotors and ceramic pads for 1999 s70
Ebay brand. But they have to be good, cause they're coming from California. It's against the law to see anything in California that ain't good.
When I get the box, I'll report on the hardness of the rotors, and the wear resistance of the pads.

Got link? And how do you know that it's coming from a good factory?arrowrod wrote:Ebay brand. But they have to be good, cause they're coming from California. It's against the law to see anything in California that ain't good.

And just because you live in California doesn't mean you'll get good stuff.... Just saying. No hate.

Not true. They sell tons of Toyota Priuses there.Ebay brand. But they have to be good, cause they're coming from California. It's against the law to see anything in California that ain't good.
I should warn you that the ceramic pads and OEM rotors aren't a great mix together. The ceramic pads tend to be very hard and will wear the rotors down so that you probably won't get a 2nd set of pads out of those rotors.

The current rotors have deep grooves cut in them from the current pads. I don't use the brakes much. Not much stop and go. Ten miles to town, no traffic signals. Ten miles back. Work on Volvo. Retired. Doubt if I'll outlive the new rotors (unless I live to be a hundred).
I just got the S70 Volvo a couple of weeks ago.

Got the pads and rotors today.
Installed them. They stopped the car! They don't squeak. They didn't cause me to swerve out of control.
They weren't marked made in China. They appear to be Centric ceramic pads. Rotors were "mystery" white box brand.
I probably could have gone a bit before changing the rotors and pads. There was 1/16 inch left on one of the pads.
Also got new (for me) chrome plated lug bolts. If I can find my USB cable for my digital camera, I'll show my wheels.
