Alternator / charging system failure 08 XC70
Charging system failure light. Is there anything this could be other than the alternator? The car seems to only be running on the battery power. I'm having to charge the battery daily in order to drive the car.

Did you inspect the wiring to the generator; make sure to disconnect battery negative if you will use any kind of metal tools. Unplug the connectors and check for loose/recessed pins or corrosion.
There are a couple more checks before you condemn the gen.
It is the voltage regulator and brushholder assembly that fails usually, but I start with the easy stuff.

Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
