Rear fog light not working cf antenna down switch

Post by Clarence2011 »

I used an extra rear foglight to make an antenna down switch based on the old post by PCars and a few others. It works and it's great.

HOWEVER, my original rear foglight is not working anymore after the job. It illuminates with the rest of the dash switches but the bulb at the rear doesn't light light up. I've checked the connections, the fuse and even switched the switch and bulb too.

Has anyone encountered this problem? I'm so almost there to making this perfect. Thank you and appreciate your help.

I actually had your post printed out as part of the "homework". I have spliced (triple junction) as per instruction especially the pink and the black (this is ground based on Haynes's wiring diagram). Antenna wire is the Blue/White.

I just couldn't understand how can the antenna switch work with lights and the other didn't as they are parallel. Could a somehow disconnected ground (black) cause this?

Thanks for your reply rspi.

I checked my fuse again and actually found that fuse 25 was empty on the list. Fuse 02 shows "fog light, f.l. indicator". Anyhow went ahead and put a 10A into fuse 25 and the fog light actually works. I may have left it out the last time before the antenna job and it shows that my fuse box label is incorrect. So, now it's all working.

For those who want a diy antenna label to complement the look, here's a template. I just dab a full drop of superglue to fill the entire square and press it against a clear plastic sheet (from discarded product moulds or photocopying sheet). Once it dries, I then cut and paste another on the opposite side. Replace it with the fog light label. It's not great with the light on in the dark but it does show up.

Thanks MVS!
