windshield crack

Is there anything that can be applied to a windshield to prevent a small crack from spreading?

In the past I have drilled a small indent into the windshield from the outside. Go to the very end of the crack and a hair beyond (just catch the end of the crack) - use a 3/32 (small bit). Drill about a 1/4 thickness of glass or less. Alternately use a windshield injection epoxy..should be able to pick it up at a automotive shop. There are probably other methods...do a little research.

walwart of all places sells the epoxy window repair. It is in the automotive section on the edge near sports. I think it is about $10
