Reading fuel mixtures happens straight away so code will disappear once the new O2 sensor is plugged in.
This is assuming the O2 sensor itself was causing the 02 light.

You will need Denso O2 sensor for your car,
not Bosch.

If the car doesn't have a turbo you can fit a Denso DOX-1419 as that is what it had fitted from new, these can be found slightly cheaper than the OEM probe and the only difference is the box it is supplied in.
I fitted one of these to my V70 N/A engine MY2000 just under two years ago and it has been fine ever since - Mike
