1998 V70xc. Oil/trans cooler line retainer
I added pic of said retainer I'm having issues with. The oil cooler line popped off the other day after swapping radiator and I'm looking for another retainer/clamp that would work on my V70xc.

People put clamp outside that clip so it would not come off.

DIY: 1998 S70 GLT Trans Cooler Line Rebuild for $10!
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=55794
NOTE:
1. The Clip has a THICK and THIN side: the THICK side goes toward the Radiator.
2. Screw-type clamp over the metal clip and it will never come off.

I use a zip tie to secure that clip. Cheap, super easy to use, bullet proof.

Thank you for all the replies.erikv11 wrote:I use a zip tie to secure that clip. Cheap, super easy to use, bullet proof.
I ended up doing the zip ties, 3 across as to cover entire retainer.
The radiator hose clamp over the factory retainer sounds like a good idea.

I found using a 5$ snap ring pliers from harbor freight made it a trivial exercise. Allowed me to remove the years old clamps without deforming them. Could have reused them if I hadn't purchased new.
I used needle nose pliers the first time and couldn't get it off without ruining the clamp.

I use the cheap-o HF snap ring pliers too. They work well for opening up the clamp just enough to allow the lines to be pulled out. The picture below shows the old way that I used to do it before I realized that you only need to pry the clamp far enough to allow the lip on the clamp to clear the fitting on the radiator.

I got snap ring pliers but I the bottom right retainer was deformed, I bent back into place best I could after paying $13 bucks for aftermarket retainer's that were made of tin foil!! Thanks guys for your contributions.jreed wrote:I use the cheap-o HF snap ring pliers too. They work well for opening up the clamp just enough to allow the lines to be pulled out.
