I don't know what the issue might be, but both my s70 and 850 only have lifter noise after starting if they sat a few days. Otherwise no noise like that whatsoever.
Also, be cautios, Mobile1 0w40 is not full syn - at least the "New life" stuff.
96 855R lifter noise?

I had a CV axle grinding with load and when my car was overloaded, no boot wear or damage. Started at about 280,000 and ended when I replaced it at 302,000.
How old are your timing belt tensioners? I usually don't replace the ones that don't leak but I recently noticed a weak one the other day. If the belt is getting some slack under load/torque, it can cause those cams to rattle.

Interesting to hear M1 new life is not fully synth. Cuz back in the day when I worked at ExxonMobil M1 0W-40 was fully synth.
Belt and tensioner are about half a year old. Gonna check on those CV joints. I guess the CV Joints cannot be replaced, this probably calls for new axles.

Hmmm... After buying the car i gave it to my indie mechanic end told him to do the TB with everything attached including the pump cuz I didn't have time to do it myself. I might habe to ask him or look for the invoice.

I'm a little sceptical about this whole tensioner thing. It's hard to hear stuff going on on that side of the engine from the driver's seat, even when the windows are down. I couldn't hear my noisy tensioner for the serpentine belt while I was driving, and that thing was loud.
I'd say this is either normal engine noise, or possibly an exhaust leak which makes you hear the normal lifter noise extra well?

My thought is if you have a weak tensioner it may allow some slack in the timing belt when under torque (not good but possible). This slack may allow the cams to rattle in the head a little.
I recently looked at a car that had a bad rattle in the head and the owner was told that the engine was bad. I pulled the timing belt cover and found the water pump pulley loose causing the belt to shake, made a.lot of noise in the head. After I replaced the water pump it was very quiet.
So, I'm thinking that may be possible if the tensioner is weak and so to keep the belt tight under load.

Robert´s idea sounds understandable, it only occurs under partia load when the belt flexes more. Under full load I can´t hear it because everything is loud then. But then the exhaust sounds reasonable too.
I always compare the Sound of my R to the one of the 854 10V. Not because I want to but because I´ve had the 10 V forever and the R is my first Turbo. So maybe I am - once again - hearing things that are not a problem (yet). I always do that with cars because I just like to Keep them running as long as possible.
Is there a way to check the belt tensioner?
UPDATE: I just checked the invoice, the tensioner was done too in Sept. 15.
Next week I´ll do the PCV again and do an oil change, could help if it´s lifter related.
