Opinions on upper engine mount - T5

My car (2001 C70 T5) has a shot upper engine mount, OEM 8649597.

It seems to me that the updated square style mount (30680770) should be interchangeable with this model, even though the site says it's not compatible? Bolt pattern appears to be identical and it seems that Volvo replaced the round one with the square one at some point.

I'm skeptical about polyurethane bushings due to increased idle vibration that's often described.
There is a good deal on the square mount in a local parts store right now so it'd cost the same as a replacement round bushing, i.e.

I would just put in an OEM style mount. Think about how long yours has lasted. Also, I wouldn't go for a polyurethane one, can't see any real advantage to it, only the drawback you note.

I used the later version on my 2000 R (square version) and I'm thinking of changing back. The support bracket catches on it and I have to modify the arm to stop that, but I'm convinced it is still hitting. I know others have said they have done the swap, but I don't recommend it.

I've read one other post suggesting checking your lower engine mount as a drooping engine could cause the bracket to touch.

OK. Replaced the mount. Obviously, the new one was interfering with the bracket so much that it was impossible to install. However, on my mount the metal plate was attached with two tiny screws (I have no idea what the plate originally is for), so I unscrewed them and rotated the plate around. Then it fitted like a charm.

My crank lower mount on RHS has been replaced as have 3 other mounts (AWD). Only front mount not done and it is still good.
