V70 can this upper hatch glass trim piece be replaced?

Post by readallthebooks »

as you can see this "reveal molding" is rusty and damaged. if i pull it out can i slide a new one in without pulling the glass out? or could i just leave it out unless it serves some kind of weatherproofing function? i search the forum but could only find references to the lower molding being damaged.

But....you will need to use a bit of silicone or some kind of glue to keep the ends in place.
I used a smear of glue.Clean the inside lip,put a smear of glue, put in in place from above with tailgate closed and secure it with tape on the outside.Let it sit overnight letting a glue to dry, remove the tape and you're done.
Don't slide it after you put a glue inside it's lip and don't install it by sliding it in.Just "click it"in from above carefully alligning up the ends.
