2000 C70 window stuck

I bought the car with the passenger window kept up with a wood "chock" on the inside pushed down between the window and the door metal. I removed the panel and found a broken steel cable in the bottom of the door.
What tests should I run to see if the problem is just in the broken cable, the regulator, or the motor?

Well, if you push the window button and hear the motor, then the motor is good. In that case, just replace the regulator without the motor. Either way, you need a new regulator.

I have replaced the cable in my friend's '01 C70...it's a common issue and a real pain. The only person I found that has the kit without paying an arm and a leg is a guy from Poland selling them on eBay. If I could recall where I got this I would post a link but it's been several years. A piece of wood "chock" was also her temporary solution until we bought the kit.

This is a common issue with the C70 as Made in Japan says. Hopefully you can find a kit of some sort or a good used 'cassette' for the window mechanism, as the only other choice is a new one at around $1000 if I recall. Hardest part is getting the window mechanism aligned from what I have read, so good luck!
