Upper Engine Mount -- Average life?

I've replaced a few upper engine mounts in my day on various P80 and P2 cars (and am about to have to do another one) and was wondering what people's experience was on average time/mileage to failure. I haven't tracked it that closely. This one is coming up at 213K miles, but I am not sure whether it is the original mount.

My upper engine mount was very worn at 9+ years, 75K miles. I replaced it with an iPD Polyurethane version in 2015, and had to replace that one last fall. It may have been stressed as I have replaced the lower transmission mount, but none of the other motor mounts on my 2006 S60.

75-80 mostly highway, but not jack rabbiting to get to that speed -- smooth and steady.

My upper mount is 15 years and 175K miles old and just fine. I definitely have a heavy foot!

My theory is weak lower mounts must cause stress on the upper. My lower mounts have been changed last year. The lower mounts were not broken, but had compressed over time and the engine/transmission assembly was sitting about a inch lower out of place.

If the lower mounts had broken loose, wouldn't that movement cause the upper to break? So perhaps your lower mounts should be checked or replaced. June

My point is, collective average life span is useless.
Do what you do, keep your eye on it. When it start deteriorating, replace it.
Don't try to be average. Be you unless your a danger to others or a {beep}.

Rick -- I was just thinking about how often I should be planning on/preparing to replace 'em. That's all. First time I noticed it needed replacement was this weekend. Part already on order. I'm not sure collective average lifespan is totally useless. It may give me a feel for when I need to start monitoring more closely, that's all I was looking for.
