I need to remind myself to write up the Electronic Climate Control codes. I didn't bother originally with it, because I have a manual climate control.

Hopefully I will write up that long list of codes.

What a great resource! One question from a new Volvo owner. What is the button push sequence required to fetch these codes? Is the same method used for all modes?

I wanted a hard-copy of these, so I cut-n-pasted them into a 2-page pdf file. If others would find it useful, I can forward it for hosting. I tried attaching it to this message, but no go.

I thought it would be nice to add the following to help further understand codes and the various fuel systems on these 850 's 1993 -1997.
I hope that I do not add to any confusion. I have listed each system's codes below. Some systems require you to pull codes from both the A2 and A6 sockets to get the full picture of fuel and ignition.

1)Motronic 4.3 used on Turbo 20 Valve engines as well as some B5254 S engines.
When checking codes on these engines information is "pulled" only from the A 2 module. There is a single ECU that controls both the fuel and ignition. The turbocharger boost pressure is also controlled by the Motronic ECU.

2) Motronic 4.4
Installed on 1996 and 1997 B5254 S engines and operates pretty much the same as Motronic 4.3

3)Fenix 5.2(A2 socket)
This will be found on the 10 valve non turbo vehicles. Similar to the LH2.3 Jetronic and also with a single ECU.
Fenix uses a MAP( Manifold absolute pressure) and intake air temperature sensor(located in the air intake duct) to calaculate the volume of air being drawn into the engine. The map is connected via a hose to the intake manifold where manifold pressure is converted to an electrical signal and sent to the ECU.

4)LH2.3 Jetronic similar to above system.

Thanks for the updated information. I might add that if someone is driving a first year S/V/XC/C 70 (1998), it has the Motronic 4.4 ECU as well.

In U.S.A. Model year 1999, a newer ECU (not listed here) began to be used.
