Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky)
Yesterday I was cleaning out my S70 from a roadtrip to Poland. Everything went perfectly fine and I'm still amazed how comfortable the S70 is after driving for 10/11 hours straight. But when I was done cleaning out the car and drove it to my parking space I noticed the lights on the ECC were flashing. Well, then read the codes you might say. But... how does one do that on a 1998 S70 with the B5252FS engine (not sold in the US if I remember correctly). It doesn't have the Bosch Motronic set up, but a Siemens Fenix system. It does have the OBD port under the armrest ofcourse, but what do you hook up on that port?

Look up flash code reader in the repair data base -an LED, a push button and a few lengths of hook up wire.

If you are getting good AC, check the recirc flap for correct operation, that is often an ECC AC problem

Key on. Lift up the flap under hood, push recirc button and see if flap closes and opens when switch is cycled

The ‘00 V70 never fails to keep me on my toes. Most recently, it’s giving me a P0600 (serial communication error).

I didn’t do anything to my car yet but I picked up some parts for it today at the pick n stab. The plan was to collect a couple of pounds of BMW nuts and bolts but I stumbled upon this nice C70 convertible. Easy under 100K and a 2004. I have had some annoying brake problem for a long time now. Brakes require a lot of input force to work, pulsating feel in pedal sometimes etc. I decided to just pull it all to get the problem over and done.
Neck totally fried but the parts look awesome where they are sitting on a shelf in the garage

Spent the last two days cleaning the S60’s interior. It turned out pretty nice! I still need a driver door panel and a driver seat eventually, but everything else is in really nice shape.
Also received the upper torque mount today from FCP, now the strut brace is finally installed. The old bushing was completely missing when I got the car, so I couldn’t install the brace.
The new mount makes the rest of the engine bay look like crap.
Timing belt, cam seals, water pump, PCV, tires, control arm bushings, and more to come!
