OBD2 reader for less than $100

Post by Mr. Detail »

Heh guys;
I know that several of you have recommended the code reader that is attached here below but when checking the price it goes for around $145.00. All I need to do right now is clear the SRS air bag warning on my dash so I can get my car thru state inspection.
Does anyone know of another reader that works specific to our Volvo's for say less than $100.00?

There are lots of $20 OBD solutions but SRS IS not an OBD standard function.

You need the $150 version of most Product lines to get the SRS clear function.

Check out Autophix ES610. It fixed my SRS on 2001 V70 T5.

Probably clear it with my VIDA. If you're willing to drive to NW NJ, we can give it a try.

It got cheaper. About $150 a couple years ago when I bought mine. The menu is a little clunky, but it worked.

don't know if this is gospel, was just looking at replace a radio on a 2005 V70xc and saw this "
Note. You will need to disconnect the battery while you work on the radio console, and to be sure to turn the ignition switch to position 2 prior to reconnecting the battery, or you will need VIDA or the dealer to reset the airbag light.

If this tip is true someone put this in a must do for any time you would disconnect a battery or a visit to a dealer may be in order

I believe that it is true because the only reason I now have the SRS warning message is because I needed to have my DIM (Dash Integration Module) repaired and pulled it before doing this.

You know it's chinese when it's spelled Vol-vo. Having said that, this looks to be a very low end product. Reading the comments off Amazon, people had trouble installing the software and getting the thing to connect with the car. So be prepared for a certain amount of frustration. I do have a more expensive one and can tell that one too came with good frustration when trying to set the thing up, and it also freezes when I scan all codes at once.
