VDASH- ViDA for newer Volvos? Free!

Post by Kara503 »

Anyone have experience with this program? Tips, tricks, notion of its capabilities, especially on newer vehicles?
I found it a few nights ago. From what I understand it could be an alternative to VIDA. You can purchase extra services through it as well, such as flashing your ECU to accept parking sensors or BLIS on a vehicle originally not equipped with them.

You DO need to have a DICE unit, but here is the kicker- some forums on Swedespeed have people talking about using VDASH to interface with their 2015+ vehicles, even the newest SPA and CMA platforms! Could this be the path moving forward for DIY on the newest cars?

Hello,

I just installed vDash in my windows computer and was able to connect it to my car (XC90 MY17 SPA platform) via a VOE / VIDA Cable Voe adapter Part# 9513108.

It did read all the codes and provided a few (I do not know if all) maintenance funcionalities (activating/deactivating/servicing parking/electric rear brakes, configuring reseting windows, tailgate...).

However, to apply further modifications you would need the CEM key / pin, which I do not have and couldn´t figure out how to obtain. It seams vDash has a funcionality to find (by brute force, it seems) the pin on previous models, but the funcionality didn´t apear to be available for my setup (Car, Cable and vDash version - I didn´t buy the Pro version).

Hope it helped.

Regards,
Daniel

The SPA PIN has to be done on the bench. It looks like the closest place to you, that can do it, is in Mexico.
I don't see any place in South America that is Pro or a Pro verified dealer.

Yes it can be done in the bench, but there is an alternative I´ve got from D5T5 (vDash developers).

You can run the "Configuration Test" software on VIDA.

Once you do, VIDA will write a few log files on the computer where you ran it (yours or the dealers).
C:\users\<user_name>\VIDA\Prod\LOG\Diagnostics\<VIN_number>.txt

You then send the log file to D5T5 and your CEM is decoded and you can use vDash´s applications.

I recently read that, that the Volvo´s Total Upgrade sw will also write these log files, that cound be used by D5T5 and that if you run vDash in the same computer where you ran the VIDA sw installation, vDash will find these loga files and decode the CEM on the spot, but I was able to verify that info.

That been known for a long time. It works with a VIDA subscription. It will not work without a subscription. The PIN is retrieved from Volvo's online PIE (Product Information Exchange) database and the local log cache it.

Most DIY won't mess with a subscription because there been too many obstacles to setting it up and a subscription is expensive for the length of the subscription.
