More power out of b5254t(this has been done too many times I know)

Post by Petskoi »

Ok so I have a gen 1 v70 awd with the b5254t with manual transmission.
I am the second owner and the car has been driven 202k miles. A load of receipts for all kinds of maintance done at a shop. So near mint condition/field tested.

I have replaced the brakes, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, bilstein shocks and springs, checked the awd system, looks and feels good(bit of oil "sweating" there but it just might be the transmission . I didnt replace the timing belt & tensioner as they looked good. Im gonna repair the clutch soon as its nearly done.

So basically its stage 0.

What kind of power figures should I be hoping for with these mods:
-I already have the japanese manifold in my possession
-Stock or 16t turbo (absolute max 15 psi as this is my daily, so the 16t isnt even needed maybe?)
-white injectors
-aftermarket intercooler
-3 inch pipe all the way from dp
-tune, duh
-somekind of diy cold air intake(prob wont make a difference but atleast you can hear the spool better :D)

The standard engine is supposed to have around 190 bhp when new. I would think you might be able to get up to 250 bhp but it will depend on the tune. I had a standard 1998 V70 T5 with the 2.3 liter (if I recall correctly) in the UK and it gave 250 bhp as standard.

I should add, that if you are hoping to boost reliably above 12psi, you will need to use an upgraded TCV as the stock Volvo one is only rated to 12 psi.

Welcome !
IPD claims that you'd be at apx 275hp just with their tune and turbo back exhaust, so with your other mods I'd think you'd be a few over that.
I would caution you that " one thing leads to another " when it comes to mods.
