Replaced the remote's battery; no change.
Could it be a fuse or a relay?
Any DIY helpful hints?

850 remote lock/unlock doesn't work

Just checking... did the remote used to work on the car before the battery died? If so, then a new battery should restore function. If not, then you could try reprogramming the remote(s) to the car.

Try manually locking and unlocking the driver's door with the key and try again. Sometimes the remote locking system can get confused. Long shot but simple to try.
As suggested you can try reprogramming the key, but I would also re-check the new battery is good and the contacts are fitting correctly.
