what causes an A2 232 code?

Post by Clemens »

So my 94 T5m wagon had a sitting dog when I bought it and the blinky box revealed a 232 on A2, long term fuel trim. I was able to delete it. But what caused it? After 7 years of 850ies this was my first sitting dog. Very exciting...

Most of the time it is a vacuum leak. The elbow at the end of the intake manifold is the usual suspect, since it is the hardest thing to get to without pulling the manifold it is, of course, where the problem usually is.

Thanks, i need to do the pcv anyhow. A cheap new car is always full of opportunities to get the wrenches out.

O ark Lee is correct! Same code on my 850. Sure enough, that tiny little rubber elbow was broken away from the hardline. Yes, pulled intake off to get to it; subsequently, just did the occ system and while there, checked voltage regulator, brushes all but worn down to its nubs. Had one in inventory and replaced. Point, check out you engine bay for other potential issues

Awesome, my old thread. Now I know when I bought my Winter T5. Time flies by...
A few days ago the dog reappeared, this time with 325 and 433 on A2, and I can't delete them.
