heated seat drivers side bulb gone

Post by paulstix »

Hallo volvo site,
Ive got a V70 turbo diesel estate 2.5 ltr 98 plate. The heated seat drivers side indicator bulb has gone and i can't see how to change it? Does anybody have any ideas? Also i recently did a long trip from newcastle to london and it seemed to stay on even after i turned it off. Wondered if these two probs may be connected. It hasn't seem to do it since on smaller shorter trips. thanksin advance for any help you can give me.

Paul, welcome to MVS.
I'm not sure if those bulbs have been covered here at Matthews or not. Read through this thread (it's a bit long) and if you don't see what you're looking for, post a question at the end- I know that someone who is in the know will answer you: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?p=53440 All I know is that the Volvo part number for that particular bulb is 9148908 (a 9mm bulb) but I don't know if it's commonly available besides the dealer (you might be able to find a reference to it in the thread previously mentioned) and it looks like the entire switch will pull out but it has clasps on the underside that will have to be depressed- possibly with something flexible (a nail file?)...you'll probably want to put some tape over the flat surface that this switch goes into so you don't scratch it if you try this. Don't mind the S70 reference in the file below...the part you want is the same in your XC as the S70 (click to enlarge):

It's easiest to take the center console out and get at them from behind. Center console comes out literally after two screws.

Thanks for that! I don't have heated seats in my S70 so would never have guessed. Here's a write-up on taking the center console out in our cars: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/SV70console.php
