1999 C70 Power seat failure

Post by keenan503 »

While intalling an amp in my 1999 C70 I moved the passenger seat all the way forward and when all was said and done the seat would no longer move. No sound comes from the seat however heat works. I checked all the fuses and wiring to make sure everything was still plugged in but didnt solve the problem.
I read that there is a shut off if there is something stuck on the track but I was unable to solve the problem.
Does anyone have any solutions?
Thank you

It sounds like seatback cable. Sort of.

The only difference is that they could hear sound but no movement. I have no sound, clicking, anything. Just silence.

Yes, that's why it's kinda like it, but not really.

Unless someone replies, I think your best bet is to search this site and the other Volvo sites for similar symptoms. My memory bank of Volvo issues/fixes just doesn't offer up anything for this one, Keenan.

The power seats on coupes are unique in the way they work. When you tilt the seat back forward, the entire seat will move forward, and when you tilt the seat back to the normal position, the entire seat will move back. It does this with the help of two micro switches, one for the seat back lever, and one for the seat back position when it is tilted forward.

Your problem is with one of these switches.

Hi All...

My '99 C70 convert has "the" seat problem...seat back stuck forward. Springy things are intact. Per others I'm trying to inspect cables by pulling off leather but stymied by the seat back release lever.

I see the torx screw for the plate, but how do your remove the lever? Don't want to pull too hard for fear of breaking another part (ugh).

BTW is there anyway to just mechanically release the seat back? I really don't care if it works, just so long as it is not stuck forward.

Thanks!

Ralph
