So in the next two weeks I am going to do a full tune up on the xc90 including:
Oil
plugs
air filter
fuel filter
transmission flush
I have about 45K on it so I am calling the the 45K tune-up. When I bought this there was not an owners manual so is there anything else I am missing that anyone would recommend for 45K? Also, I have looked at FCP and IPD and both sell OEM plugs for $40-$45 a set, but they also both sell other plugs for $2-$3 each, I know in my 850 the basic copper are the best, but what about this?
This is my first turbo, so any advice on how to treat those differently or what needs to be done that doesn't in an NA would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone have the process of changing the cabin filter in this?
Thanks

Not sure about plugs in an '05 2.5T XC90. I would probably stay with OEM- that's what we use in our 2.5T V70 ('04). Btw, here is your owner's manual: https://www.customers.volvocars.com/own ... c90_00.htm
Here is the maintenance chart: https://www.customers.volvocars.com/own ... nance.html
Oh, and because you have a turbo, if you haven't already done so, switch to a synthetic oil. Hope the documents were helpful.

MIJ

So I played some get to know you games with the XC90 today in anticipation of my tune up. It does not have regular plug wires, instead it has a coil or something built in to each, so I am not going to replace those ($50 per plug!!!).
Also, any tips for getting to all the plugs? I am specifically wondering about the turbo line that runs about 1.5 inches over the torx bolt I need to undo as seen below? Anyone have pics or diagram on plug change? Is there anything special about these I should be aware of? Can I just remove the turbo hose? I haven't had a turbo before.
Thanks

This writeup is for an S80 T6, but hopefully most of it will apply to your car too. On the turbo hose, you should be able to loosen the clamp then pop the hose off.stone36 wrote:So I played some get to know you games with the XC90 today in anticipation of my tune up. it will finally be over 45 this weekend
so it is time for the tune up. I have the oil filter and plugs and transmission oil (toyota t-IV).
The only other is the fuel filter, I found it under my back passenger door, just like the 850, and it also has the original undercoating and greased tape around the connections which lets me know it is original. It is probably safe to say that the previous owner didn't bring to volvo for scheduled service.
Does anyone have the procedure for changing the fuel filter?
Mostly I am wondering about the clamps, they look different from what I am used to but I just looked quick. I just don't want to need something to finish or start the job once I get going.
Thanks

Yep, that's the one, its that quick release connector that didn't look familiar to me, though I didn't get a real good look at it.
I will post back with my experience from this weekend.
Thanks!!
