I understand the CMP sensor is the camshaft position sensor. Here's a picture of it: http://www.fcpgroton.com/images/9146108.jpg

My '94 850 shut down in traffic last year, then got it started but over the next day ran/shut off. It was the fuel pump - replaced and fine since!

I just bought a '94 850 3 days ago (180k) & clean- runs great until this afternoon.
It started, died and wouldn't fire until the 5th try over the next 10 min.
then it started and run perfect for the trip home (20 min)

Tina, is it the same one that you said has a broken valve elsewhere on these boards? It's not considered "fine since" is it?

Anyway, I'm glad you found the replacement so quickly. For some reason I always thought you're that Tina who won the 1m on Survivor! :)

Well regarding that issue it was fine! I meant no more stalling problems.

As for the bent valve on my 850, it was likely a problem with the timing belt I had replaced the day before - or the tensioner that I did not have replaced. I'm going to have a valve job done and sell the car, it's still very pretty and has lots of new parts (courtesy of my pocketbook)!

I found a place that can probably do tha valve job cheaper - it's 2 hours away and won't be very fast that's why I needed to replace the car as it's my only transportation. I think the 850 still has lots of life left in it.

It happened to me twice since I get the car in 1998 and the problem was the fuel pump, in fact I changed both the fuel pump and the relay and the problem was fixed, seems that the fuel pump for 850/1994 last two years more or less.
