I went through the motions of trying to replace the battery cable before realizing I had a loose connection. Doesn't seem very easy.
Most of the terminals available at part stores don't allow the same 2 cable connections as the original terminal. I'd have to have drilled out part of the battery->fuse box cable connection in order to fit it on the terminal post.

If I had to actually replace those cables, in all likelihood I think I would just pick up an extra cable from the junkyard and go from there.
Probably miles cheaper than purchasing a new cable + terminal and don't have to go through the trouble of modifying your cables/a new terminal. Just my 2 cents.

Problem with junkyard cables as most are now the same age and condition as yours!!

Now you may be able to remove the cables and fit new ones and solder them in after crimping. Some say don't solder as it makes the wire at the crimp more brittle, but it does also help reduce corrosion in the first place.

I would agree, there are none like it that I've been able to find so far.

I guess the option is to cut off the connectors at the junkyard?

What good would that do? The best you could hope for, unless I'm missing something, is to have a spliced cable.

Why are the battery connectors not re-useable at all or are they all crimped? Some I have had were just soldered and then clamped?

I'd have to look again, but they look permanently attached in some manner, to me.

When I am at the junkyard next I will take a look again! I can peel back the cover piece and see if it is crimped or soldered or both!

I think that they are just crimped, but definitely not re-usable.

Then there is this old thread:

viewtopic.php?t=60223

Talks about using solder to freshen the connector cable ends.
