Re: Side Marker Light Installation DIY

Post by jrobles007 »

Some of the other posts I read had the wiring running through the tire side. There is a gap between the plastic fender liner (not sure if that's what's called) and the fender itself, should help in protecting the wire. They removed the front signal light to fish the wire through and splice into the signal light wiring. The light is easy to remove. There is a spring with a ring end that you remove first and then carefully pull the light out. A screw driver may help in releasing the tension. Check out this YouTube video: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=844fa1T5DWgHope this helps.

Thanks, but the YouTube video is for a completely different light -- the corner parking light. It has nothing to do with side markers.

My 850 has the grommet, but no wiring or connector in it :-(. Some 850s were pre-wired, some weren't. One day we'll crack the mystery. So far, we know the likelihood doesn't follow model years. Perhaps it was triggered by a trim option.

My '98 V70 -- base model -- has the grommet, but no wires or connector. I'm betting the base trim level is the kicker.

Any guess whether a '98 C70 would be pre-wired??

I think the pre-wiring is meant for side directional indicator blinkers. At least that's how they are set up in Europe. I have only seen that use for this lamp.

We're talking about the same thing. I'll be installing side marker lights wired into the directional so that they are essentially side directionals. I do not intend to wire them into the parking light circuit. The prewiring is for side directionals. It does not exist in my car.

(1994 855T) I got the side markers, but I can't see if there is any wiring up in there. Is it just dangling, or is it tied back? If I pull the turn signal housing , can I find the other end of the side marker wiring from up front?
