Just know the landscape regarding aftermarket axles - it is very difficult to buy one with any confidence.

I think I have a line on one from a friend , but if not is it feasible to rebuild one myself . I have the Haynes book and the time . Thanks, Bruce

Rebuilding yourself is very feasible, ideally the initial one you removed or another OEM one. All it takes is time and circlip pliers.

I agree, it is not difficult, the only trick is getting GKN/Lobro boots and quality CV joints (again GKN/Lobro I think, but I am not sure). Do some searching, parts numbers and sources have been posted about recently.
