Those Volvo hoses last a long time. Mine got replaced (1999-2013, 140k miles) then went onto to live in another Volvo for another (2013-2021, 150k mikes) where they still are in service

Very likely just that. Would get the code 3 times between fill ups on the 08 C30. Cleaned the filler surface and o-ring of the cap. Applied a little silicone grease and it's once or less than once between fill ups. A new cap is in store.
