sporadic Central locking ( keep a spare key)

stupidly priced keyless lock button, on my third

Window switches- burn out, one smoldered

light switches - crumpled in my hand

head lights

tail lights

B+ Cable

Charging system (new battery every other February, thats right 1@2years)

drafts from all the doors

windows constantly going on and off track

Incredible wind noise at highway speeds, good thing the radio (FM) is good

loose dashboard rattling , that no one could confirm until after 4 years, now $3,000 repair thats not happening

ETM (yesterday) software fix ( around 2006) put me 4 months out of the warrentee period $1200

Temp Sensor, randomly on/off -> ultimately new radiator-> which fell out of the car 350 miles from home. (2 years ago)

Timing Belt , got that done yesterday too (~$750)

front struts, third set now.

gas milage never better than 20-22 mpg

engine EMF interference on the AM radio that goes away when you lock/unlock the doors once or twice.

hot air that comes out all over the place no matter where you dial it to go.

some kind of sticky organic gue on most plastic surfaces that can only be peeled off

when clean, dashboard surface that reflects off the windshield on sunny days obstructing the drivers view

rear hatch interior panel that keeps falling off

stupid front wheel splash guards that get ripped off when backing up in snow.

corosion of the silver coating on the (mag) wheels

brake shoe life of ~20,000 miles, and squeeling when not worn

sticking brake calipers

I'll let some one else speak now............
But apart from that - you're a contented, happy Volvo owner?

I can't believe that I completely forgot about the Lower Motor Mount! (Pass Side)
Clunky shifting, funny noises and my paranoid feelings of doom, despair and lack of fundage
(OMG, I gotta rebuild the tranny! Aggghhhh!!! )all went away when I fixed that one... 8)

After reading some of the posts of other items, I feel pretty fortunate to have only dealt with these items ( not in any order)

Evaporator, Lower engine mount (pass. side), alternator (twice in 18 months), radiator, water pump, rear camshaft seal, spring seats, driver side headlight, radio, too many bulbs to list over the years, headliner (does this count?), gas tank cracked at heat shield attach point (replaced by Volvo under recall), rear passenger door trim (driver side).

Issues I am facing at present- PCV system cleaning (probably replace whole system w/ one from FCP), Egr valve cleaning, vacuum line fittings deteriorated, Tranny flush and fill. I have a CEL that comes on every once in a while and the code 241 keeps popping up from the A2 bank. Hoping I'll get through emissions testing since my tags expire at the end of this month and replace the PCV system this summer along with the EGR valve.

Hello, It's March 11th, 2010; is this post/poll still active? Sway bar links, an interior switch (master window), top engine mount, lower right engine mount, CTS (coolant temperature sensor), windshield washer level sensor. There's got to be a better way to conduct polls on these sites. Kira

I think the poll is taken by checking boxes listed above, not by writing items out. I could be wrong.

^^^ True. Write-ins are for the items that didn't make the list.

Kira, you should see this (although not with these checked, unless you've had the exact same problems as I have).
