'98 Alternator/Power Steering pump refit -- A Cry for Help

Ok -- I'm going to have to bust myself down to a #2 mechanic for having made the classic rookie mistake -- no photos or drawings of how stuff came apart and I don't have a parts diagram.

In particular, my a/c compressor is back in and all lines are installed. Now the fun begins. The alternator wiring is done and the alternator is in via one bolt and resting on it -- the longest bolt in the back, bottom that threads into the bottom of the power steering pump bracket. I am losing daylight so have not succeeded in threading in that bolt.

What I have no handle on is the funky triangular flat steel plate the goes in on the driver side of the alternator/power steering pump and the funky, pentagonal guard the goes to the front bumper side of the power steering pump.

Can anybody help a guy out with, for example, an exploded parts diagram? Thanks a million-- urgh. . .

Select your car at volvopartslisle.com and look at the alternator diagrams. Those are the easiest to access parts diagrams I know of, and they might be able to help you out here. After looking, I'm not sure, but you'd know better at what you're looking at than anyone else.

Oddly, bmdubya1198 beat me to it by linking to a similar site while I sought out my link. I lived 1/4 mile from Lisle volvo and drove by it every single day that I lived in Chicago.

Thanks guys, but the parts diagrams available at both sites are too granular. If I want alternator components down to the screw, those sites are great, but I need more of an engine bay schematic than what's offered on these sites. Robert's alternator swap video comes close, but it isn't detailed enough w/r/t bracket arrangement.

If you are stuck, then another trip to the junkyard ---> find another 850 or 1998 S/V70 and "target practice".
Take photos, notes.
Now when you go home, you will be a pro, then post a DIY for others to benefit from.

I've seen the Volvospeed post and it too lacks sufficient detail, but thanks cn90 for being willing to help.

Anybody have a '98 ( or perhaps even an earlier 850 ) they can post some pics of?

Thanks again gang. I appreciate all the efforts. My local mechanics says they do a/c compressor replacements from below by dropping the subframe and supporting the engine from above. That might actually be easier.
