Volvo 850 T-5R vacuum hose issues - routing

Post by HarryT5R »

Hello all,
I am in desperate need of some help with my vacuum hose routing because it seems no mechanic in all the lands knows where this missing hose goes...

I have the now very rare T-5r and I'm not getting full boost due to a missing hose, resulting in a clicking sound when it's drawing as well. It's resulting in poor fule/air mix and messing with the o2 sensor as well.

Does anybody have a UK T-5r or even a T5 that could help trace where this mystery pipe goes?

I'm barely an amateur mechanic but I sure am a Volvo enthusiast and simply love and cherish my 1995 5 cylinder beast!!

I would really appreciate it if somebody out there with 1995 turbo could trace their hose and let me know as I'm truly stumped

Here are a couple of pics of my 1997 850R. I have removed the cold air intake that fits from alongside the radiator to the air filter housing. This connection is the evap purge valve in my car. Of course this is a USA spec car and these parts may not be the same as yours. The elbow is not visible in the top photo and circled in red in the second photo.

You should consider just replacing all vacuum hoses, the 25 year-old rubber is probably disintegrating in many places.

Look at the white sticker on the underside of the hood for your car's particular setup, but overall all turbos 95-98 have the same vacuum line routings: viewtopic.php?t=63615

If your car has EGR that makes for a few extra lines under the intake manifold to pay attention to.
