850 OBD Codes read

Post by manovlov »

Hy Buddies !

New episode in Blue's history. Here are the codes and issues I've read today after Blue's autopsy. I precise I've checked the kilometers, and the car OBD unit announces 107 016 miles (172 226 kms) and 93 053 miles (149 755 kms) on the combined instrument. I think the speedometer must have been repaired. I've found a process to test all slots before to read codes, but I didn't do it yet. I didn't control any fuses also which should have been the first thing to do. Could it explain mute codes ?

A2 1 - 1 - 1. FUEL SYSTEM ok
A6 3 - 1 - 4. IGNITION. camshaft positon sensor signal absent or faulty (solution : replace the camshaft sensor)
A3 3 - 1 - 2. ABS. RH front wheel sensor open circuit or short circuit
A7 1 - 2 - 2. COMBINED INSTRUMENT (Trip Computer) temperature signal interval too long

B1 nothing. ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL ?
B5 nothing. SRS ?
B2 1 - 2 - 2. CRUISE CONTROL no speed signal
B6 nothing. ELECTRIC FRONT SEAT ?

What worries me is the missing on certains codes.

For A3, I've replaced the ABS sensors by new ones less than 2 months. It could come from the sensor ring.
For B2, Cruise control don't work yet.
For B6, the motor of the back of the seat doesn't't work, a cable may be out or the wiring.

The car starts well, always. But I smell exhausts gases, like all the gasoline was not burnt. A question of lambda sensor may be ? I see lot of OEM parts on Blue which could explain the presence of an A6 code.

Here are the pics of my OBD unit.

Experts Ones, it's up to you !

Hy,

So, I progress in bring help to Blue. Here are 2 boards, extracted from my 850 book. The thing I don't understand is on the "b" board, why I only see the "A" unit and not the "B"one, If I didn't make a mistake.

On the 1rst board is written : 17/7 : diagnostic switch A only.

May someone explain how to proceed ? I would like to test the wiring from the OBD unit.

Salut abscate,

Thanks for the light... It means that on the two sides of the connector, the power comes only when the pin is plugged so ? And if so, what could be the reason to have non power then ? A cable cut ? Where should I plug the multimeter then ?

I will have a look to this post :

Hey, I also have a DTC 3-1-2 on A3, meaning "right front wheel sensor circuit open or short". There is a separate DTC for defective sensor, while circuit is ok. So before I try to replace the sensor, I would like to check the cable but don't know how. Has anyone tried this before?

The most comprehensive documentation about the ABS that I found is this: http://www.volvotips.com/index.php/850- ... ce-manual/
But in order to check the cable resistance, it requires the use of a special diagnostics box. It is to be connected to the ABS-controller. And it says "Do not directly probe control module connector." Any insight into why not?
I would like to directly probe the connector, but theres is no diagram which pins correspond to the front right wheel cable :( Maybe it is in the wiring diagram, but its unreadable. Does anyone have the original?
