Re: 2001 V70XC - front drive axle broke off at T
The retaining circlip gets off to one side and it will not get into the beveled area of axle gear so it will compress and let axle slide out. The way I have pulled many out is to pry but not with excessive force. I would say the axle will come out with 20 pounds force applied on an 18 long pry bar w...

Re: 2002 V70XC Hard turning but power steering is fine
Just as a note - just did this on my car, had to replace the 'lower steering U-joint' (part #13). If you look under the dash it's trivial to undo bolt #12, separate the two joints (they slide up/down), and check if there is any stiffness in the U-joint or whatnot. The joint does have bearings so it'...

Re: What is the small hose on the thermostat housing on '05 XC70?
Very possible and pretty common coolant leak on the turbo engine (non turbo doesn't have this hose on the thermostat housing). Worth looking at the coolant tank as well, underneath it as these may sometimes develop a small crack (disconnect the small sensor before lifting), at the small return hose ...

Re: P0442 - Smoke Testing
You can use the hose to the purge valve for the connection and you have to seal the vent hose that runs up the filler neck and will have a cylindrical filter at the end. I have some rubber cap that I keep anytime a part has fittings capped off. A short length of the right size hose with something st...

Re: Towing a Pop-up Camper
Just leave it in D. I don’t know why people make crap up on the internet. Your car senses the required torque and manages engine and transmission much better that the driver If you are pulling up a hill and is it shifting between 345 a lot than move the shifter down A range to stop that. Re: 2004 xc70 clunking after car gets warm
An update on my problem: it turned out to be a bad end link on the passenger side. Perhaps the grease in the joint got bad after driving or lost it’s lubricating abilities or something god knows what.

Re: VIDA Virtual Machine Image
Oka, I was so glad you got the ViDA.ova file downloaded. I understand the person who made the file and hosted it on Google is now charging to download it. I have some sympathy with that stance as she took a lot of time and a certain amount of expense and with it being so popular I think she spent an...

Re: Skandix group buy October 2021
Thankfully, FCP has that Skandix exhaust hanger bracket and a few other aftermarket versions. I recall having seen many other Skandix parts only available from them, yet can't think of specific examples. Maybe the 740 and 240 guys need this info for the classic parts they offer. ( I can't because I'...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Today I discovered my S60 needs a replacement starter. Thanks to RobertDIY's video for helping me easily diagnose it: https://youtu.be/nednzv5S1Uk?t=162 Have a real good look at the teeth on your flywheel while you have the starter out. May be a good idea to have someone rotate the crank while you ...

Re: Volvo VIDA J2534 Cable vs DICE?
Finally received both V160 JLR pro's yesterday and can confirm Vida recognizes it. I did not use the disc that came with it nor did I use their google drive that includes: SDD 160, Vida 2014D and techstream 16.20.023. I bought from 2 separate vendors and I received exactly the same thing so no matte...
