Re: 2007 2.4T or non turbo?
That's confusing to say the least. The 2007 V70 was a new platform (P3), with 6 cylinder engine in the US. Ask him to post a pic with the engine bay.

Re: That spring behind the mirror
Good question. Maybe it keeps the mirror more steady when driving at speed - otherwise it may be slightly vibrating which would cause the image to be blurry.

Re: How to tell if Timing Belt Service had ever been done ?
The belt has already been replaced, the original one doesn't have 'Continental' on it (but has similar white areas on it). I hear a small intermittend friction noise, and the belt seems to be wobbling over the tensioner pulley - the needle also shakes a little but less important. Can you take a pict...

Re: Cv axle
Is the axle a replacement ? Some had the wrong clip size. Try pulling on the inner CV joint cup just before that shaft, see if it comes out, otherwise it should be secured properly. For the pull, how is the rear bushing on the control arm, when you jack the wheel ?

Re: Cv axle
It's the small bushing at the rear of the control arm that goes bad (tears). For the axle, if it doesn't come out it's secure, but good to know it may not come out again if needed, if the clip was slightly larger (common problem)

Re: How to tell if Timing Belt Service had ever been done ?
The needle is fine - assuming the engine is cold The belt is indeed quite riding on the right side, it may be touching somewhere causing that squeak. Try with the left hand to keep the tensioner needle to the right, and spin with fingers the tensioner pulley putting some pressure on it - it will not...

Re: 2006 XC70 Hot starting issues
Hope you get more answers, but it may not be easy to find fix. From memory When trying to start with the engine hot, do you hear the fuel pump priming ? The fuel pressure is a bit low, may look at the PEM for corrosion ($40 off Ebay). Not sure why it's dropping pressure overnight, maybe a leaky FPS ...

Re: How to tell if Timing Belt Service had ever been done ?
The date on the tensioner is stamped behind the needle, in a circle, the last 2 digits of the year. I see the water pump is Hepu (not original), but it looks really wet and dirty, try see if it's also wet above the pump, otherwise it might be leaking from the small hole. Hepu are sometimes good, som...

Re: Front Strut replacement recommendations and gotchas?
Good kit but it doesn't say the brand of the bearing plate - keep your old bearing plates as spare just in case. The lower nut on the end links must be cut with a grinder. Hard to say about the alignment, if the new suspension is rising the front end, then yes, but be sure the bushings on the contro...

Re: Brake / Strut Replacement
I think it's always easier to work on both front wheels at once, even just for a brake job. It also helps reduce the sway bar torsion, still need a long pry bar to force it down when placing back the end links. Get two quality jack stands, cheap ones have shown to have irregular welds - this is almo...
