Re: 850 NA cams in a Turbo model

I believe the NA cams have a longer duration, which means the valve is open longer, in order to allow the NA engine to breath as efficiently as possible.

Re: 850 turbo turnsignal stalk broken

Yup, pop the top cover off the steering column, remove the bottom cover, it will have 2 T25 Torx screws and a T15 Torx screw. Now you remove the two T25 screws that hold the turn signal switch to the steering column, and unplug the connector. Reverse process. Now drive 45 miles per hour in the left ...

Re: 1998 S70 T5 Replacing lower (round) engine mounts

Rear isn't a lot of fun, but it's only a few bolts. First remove the upper engine mount bolt so you can raise the rear of the engine later. Place the car on jack stands. To get to the rear upper nut, I had to use a 17mm ratcheting box wrench, then jack up the rear of the engine 3 inches or so and re...

Re: Transmission Ecu question

I had some transmission problems and decide to check the transmission control computer. I worked in electronics manufacturing just out of college, including inspecting avionics, so I think my opinion is informed. I thought the assembly quality on the transmission computer was excellent, and it's con...

Re: list of codes, insight and help please

You can't trigger the boost control valve in park, boost should be disabled unless you're in gear and moving.

Re: Resetting computer after O2 sensor replacement

Option 1. Remove both battery cables, hold the ends together for 15 seconds to clear the DTC codes.

Option 2. Get an OBDII code reader pull the codes to make sure you don't have any other issues, use the tool to clear the codes.

Re: V70 1998 Died On Road

MAF?

When it stalls next time and won't start, unplug the MAF and if it starts after that you've got a bad MAF.

Or you could go the "easy" way and pull the codes.

Re: V70 1998 Corner headlight detached

I just use a big tie wrap cord around the corner light and the frame next to the headlight, keeps it nice and tight in place and saves you ordering a new part.

You can put a brand new crate engine in it for only $6K. Of course you could buy a runner with about 100K miles on it for that price. If it's not a turbo, let it go for parts, you'll never get back what you put into it.

B5254T Rebuilt Warning for pistons.

I have been informed that Volvo no longer offers the OS1 piston for the B5254T engine. I learned this .020MM OS piston isn't available after having my block bored, which is a pain in the wallet. This is Volvo part number 272242. The OS2 .040MM OS pistons can still be ordered, or so I've been told, u...
