Had same problem with my 53 xc90 D5, had the battery checked at independant garage and found out the battery had simply had enough!! replaced battery and never had a problem since 4 months ago, hope this helps.

Yep, sounds like wishbone bushes top and bottom, same noise i had both replace wishbones and top, bottom bushes cost £510.00 inc labour , sorry about price after you have got off the floor

Put the car back under Volvo dealer warranty (£500 in UK) you have to get the services done at main dealer but please be aware when the XC90 goes wrong, it goes wrong and can cost a bundle e.g geartronic transmission failed on my car the cost of a new box in UK around £5000.00 yes come off the floor...
